Comprehensive Health Screening for Industrial Workers & Families in Manesar
A 6-week integrated preventive health initiative bringing point-of-care diagnostics, disease screening, doctor consultations, and government linkage to industrial clusters.
Context
Background, target settlements, and industrial health determinants.
Project Overview & Beneficiary Demographics
The project was designed to provide comprehensive health screening for industrial workers and their families in Manesar. Health camps were strategically planned across Villages, Slums, Colonies, and Industrial Clusters, selected based on government demographic data and preliminary field assessments by the SHARE clinical team.
Why The Project Was Needed
Industrial and peri-urban communities in Manesar face multiple structural barriers to preventive healthcare:
Long Working Hours
Daily 10-12 hour factory shifts leave virtually zero time to visit distant health facilities for preventive checkups.
Pollution Exposure
Elevated ambient PM2.5, chemical fumes, and industrial dust significantly elevate risks of Asthma, COPD, and respiratory illnesses.
Preventive Healthcare Void
Lack of routine health screening leads to silent progression of Hypertension, Diabetes, Anaemia, and Renal impairment.
Aims
Four core objectives driving the 6-week intervention.
Project Objectives
Systematic Health Screening
Conduct point-of-care vital and laboratory health screening for industrial workers and their families in Manesar.
Early Disease Detection
Detect early signs of communicable (TB) and non-communicable diseases (Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD, Anaemia).
Government Linkage & Referral
Provide clinical consultation and structured linkage to government healthcare facilities for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
IEC Health Awareness
Increase health awareness and promote preventive practices through Information, Education, and Communication activities.
Clinical Suite
All tests and diagnostic investigations deployed in the field.

Key Insights
Strategic epidemiological takeaways from the field.
Five Critical Field Insights
1. Dual Disease Burden
The project clearly identified the simultaneous coexistence of communicable (Tuberculosis) and non-communicable diseases (Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD), underscoring the urgent need for integrated primary screening camps.
2. Massive Hidden Disease Burden
Community screening successfully identified hundreds of previously undiagnosed conditions—most participants with stage-1 or stage-2 hypertension and diabetes were completely unaware of their illness.
3. Severe Gender Disparity in Anaemia
A disproportionately higher burden of anaemia was observed among women (66 out of 75 cases), highlighting the necessity of dedicated maternal and adolescent female nutrition programs in peri-urban belts.
4. Early Active TB Detection
The identification of 6 active new TB cases through on-site Chest X-rays demonstrates the transformative value of bringing advanced imaging directly to factory gates and slums, preventing ongoing community transmission.
5. Elevated Cardiometabolic Risk
Approximately 1 in 3 screened individuals had hypertension or dyslipidaemia, reflecting occupational stress, sedentary shift work, and high-salt processed food consumption.
CSR & Corporate Health Partnerships
The Manesar project supported by Napino demonstrates the massive impact of corporate-community health partnerships. Local manufacturing units and industrial leaders can directly safeguard the wellbeing of their workforce and surrounding colonies.
